An alternative dual water softener has been designed and implemented to remove water hardness. Hard water hinders soap performance and makes laundry difficult, leaving skin feeling 'slimy'. This dual softener works by having one tank remove hardness while the other is in regeneration. The first tank contains sodium-saturated resin that attracts calcium and magnesium ions, leaving only sodium ions that don't affect soap and detergents, making the water 'soft'. Once the first tank reaches full capacity, the tanks switch roles. The regeneration process flushes a complete sodium ion solution through the tank, freeing calcium and magnesium ions and absorbing sodium ions, allowing the process to repeat. This leaves soft water, ideal for use in hotels, schools, or restaurants.
